Occupational Therapy

 Occupational Therapists' (OTs) help people of all ages do the things that matter most to them, the '"occupations" of everyday life. This could mean getting dressed, going to school, working, socialising, or managing daily routines. OTs focus on supporting people to build everyday skills, adapt their environments, and participate in activ

 Occupational Therapists' (OTs) help people of all ages do the things that matter most to them, the '"occupations" of everyday life. This could mean getting dressed, going to school, working, socialising, or managing daily routines. OTs focus on supporting people to build everyday skills, adapt their environments, and participate in activities that promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing.

At Cassowary Coast Allied Health Hub, our OT supports clients across the lifespan, from early childhood through to older adulthood, to achieve their goals in meaningful and practical ways.


Children and Young People

  • Support sensory and emotional regulation
  • Develop fine and gross motor skills (e.g. handwriting, using scissors, coordination)
  • Build independence in self-care (e.g. dressing, eating, toileting, managing routines)
  • Support attention, play, and participation at daycare, kindergarten, or school
  • Promote social skills, confidence, and participation in daily activities
  • Support transitions such as starting high school, preparing for work, or moving towards independent living


Adults and Older Adults

  • Support transitions related to study, work, or independent living
  • Promote participation in meaningful roles, routines, and hobbies
  • Build organisation and time management skills
  • Explore strategies for stress management and sensory wellbeing
  • Support mental health, coping, and emotional balance
  • Manage daily activities following injury, illness, or changes in ability
  • Help balance work, home, and self-care demands
  • Recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications to support independence
  • Maintain mobility, balance, and functional independence
  • Support memory, thinking, and cognitive function
  • Adapt home environments to reduce falls or injury risk
  • Complete Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs)

Speech Pathologists, also known 'speechies', provide assessment, therapy and management across the lifespan, from newborn babies right to the later stages of life. At Cassowary Coast Allied Health Hub, we provide therapy to children aged 0-12 years of age.  We specialise in the following areas of practice:
 

  • Speech sound development
     
  • Rece
