A General Practitioner (GP) can refer a child for Individual Allied Health Services under Medicare for patients with a chronic medical condition and complex care needs.  If referred, you can access a medicare rebate of $61.80 per session for up to 5 sessions per calendar year.  You will pay the full fee, we will process your claim and Medicare will deposit the rebate into your bank account.  Your GP will decide if your child is eligible.

  • Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP).  Children need to have a chronic condition that has been (or is likely to be) present for 6 months or longer and requires a multidisciplinary, team-based care from a GP and at least two other health or care providers. This can include a team with, for example, a Speech Pathologist and Audiologist or a Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist.
  • A GP can refer children who are Aboriginal or Torres-Strait Islander for Follow-up Allied Health Services under Medicare for people of Aboriginal or Torres-Strait Islander descent.  This entitles them to 5 additional rebates per calendar year in addition to the above (10 rebated sessions in total).
